As music presenters turned DJs go, Annie Mac, the Radio 1 presenter and disc jockey extraordinaire, is in her own league. Her extensive knowledge of the music scene is second to none, combining hits from the 60s through to tracks on NOW 54 cds. Her current tour has been one of the most sought after tickets by young 18 – 30 somethings and has acts such as Audio Bully’s, Chromeo, A-TRAK, Kissy Sellout, Sinden etc all being some of the biggest disc jockeys on the scene.

Having disc jockeyed since the tender age of 16, she is one of very few females challenging a male dominated market and she is certainly not phased by this and if last night was anything to go by, she will soon be held in an even higher acclaim by her fellow disc jockeys.

The Annie Mac tour hit london’s biggest dance venue, FABRIC, with the lady herself performing alongside some of the top disc jockeys on the music scene; A-TRAK, DJ MEDHI, SINDEN, KID SISTER and the YOYO DJs.

A-TRAK, the 25 year old Canadian DJ was one of the surprise packages of the night, with his impressive turntablism, proving why he was the World’s best DJ at the age of 15, and the competition’s youngest ever winner in that case. His blend of hip hop and several other urban genres proved a hit with the audience and he spent several hours after speaking to people.

SWITCH and SINDEN are two DJs everyone must keep an eye out for in the near future, they are true gems who know how to get any party started, the only acts that can make Cyndi lauper and Alison moyet cool to a younger audience whilst maintaining their interests in urban classics and certain dance anthems. They manage to blend hip hop with Brazilian folk beats, old school funk classics with house music and other genres very convincingly.

They went through their sets and played some of the fans favourites, including Brick and Lace and Beeper.

SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO, who along with justice brought us this summer’s biggest and coolest dance track 'we are your friends' also had a very impressive disc jockeying set playing some of the finest dance tracks ever made along with some of their songs they’ve been working on including the Justin Timberlake one called LOVESTONED..

KID SISTER, the American female rapper/performer, in the mould of M.I.A and GOLDIELOCKS, has her brother J2K of Flosstradamus as her DJ and her performance was also very entertaining and her popular songs Pro Nails and Damn Girl went down a treat with the audience and she is another one to watch out for as she has been working with some of the big names on the urban scene.

The YOYO DJs are the brains behind the ever popular Thursday YOYO night at the Notting Hill Arts Club, which has seen Lily Allen, Kate Nash, Blaise Belleville all perform there and these guys also pulled off a superb set of old school hip hop and general urban classics.

The night belonged to the lady herself, Annie Mac, who went through her amazing electro and dance set playing some of the biggest electro and dance tracks around including cheap thrills by herve and get innocuous. This was a very special night indeed and the tour is currently on the road so if you manage to get a chance to track tickets down, do take up the offer as it is a very special tour.
