If you want to keep your finger on the pulse of British guitar music then ‘Thisfeeling’ nights are the place for you.

The venue tonight is Nambucca and on show are Getrz and The Blend. Swindon lads, Getrz are first up and waste no time, tearing into a high intensity set of rousing guitars and heavy basslines. It’s a tidal wave and swirling of influences. ‘Bites’ has moments of pure Artic Monkeys and there’s a lot of The Libertines in ‘Diazefam’ but it’s Nirvana that shines through most on the night.

The four piece certainly give it their all and the alternating lead and lively backing vocals are particularly effective. It’s a bit bass heavy for my tastes but the lads certainly show they have potential. With its catchy chorus, ‘Bite’ is the highlight of the night.

Next up are The Blend minus their bass player. ‘Who needs a bass player anyway’ defiantly cries the keyboardist as they launch into first single ‘Don’t Waste My Time’. Undeterred the band carry on regardless with passion and conviction. The Blend are one of a number of new bands coming out with ‘Jam’ style mod sounds and the lads themselves remind me of an early and raw version of The Enemy.

‘City Sirens’ stands out on the night but even though they didn’t let it dampen their performance or spirits it’s no easy task to take out the bass sound from tunes made with a bass. Another band with potential, would certainly like to hear them with the full line-up.
