Author, model and influencer Kristina Bazan has just released her self-penned single "VR". The song explores modern relationships, virtual feelings or "digital fragments of love" keeping us away from a violently normal reality. ""VR" or Virtual Reality, is a song depicting the ephemeral nature of love in our digitally predominated new world. Where is the limit between reality and the virtual, feelings and illusion? The accompanying Science Fiction music video with an unmistakably 80's touch directed by Giovanna Gorassini. The viewer is taken into a parallel world where a strange Fish-boy (played by Christopher Michaut) enters a futuristic nightclub, He puts a VR mask on and meets the surreal virtual woman who seduces him in a technicolour world. As Kristina says herself: "Think Blade Runner, Shape of Water or even some of Lynch's work, unveiling a psychedelic world full of magic and sensuality where seduction and illusion meets"
Wrapped in this mysterious electronic melody, sparkling and fascinating, taking us from Kate Bush to Goldfrapp, KRISTINA BAZAN plays with lights and shadows, drawing pieces after pieces the shape of a promising music career.
What song reminds you most of your childhood?
I think it's Madonna's La Isla Bonita, my mother used to listen to a lot of Madonna at home, I kind of grew up on it.
Which song inspired you to become a musician/singer?
So many... I am not even sure it's one in particular, it's just music in general and what each songs makes you feel. I did understand what kind of music I wanted to make when I heard Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics.
Which song do you wish you had written?
Because by the Beatles or The Show Must Go On by Queen.
What was the first song you wrote?
That's a great question which I am not sure I can answer as I truly can't recall! I used to write so so many... I think was always singing and making up songs from a very early age.
There is one song that is called Iron Veins, and I think lyrically it is one of my favorite songs I've written because it's not talking about love or relationships but instead about our human nature and our relationship with the future, where we are going.
Which artist/band has been the most inspirational to you?
So many, I would say David Bowie has definitely been a very important figure for me because he used to say that he hated his voice so he put all his work into his songwriting and stage presence, that's been something very important for me to hear because I also never absolutely loved my voice. Kate Bush is someone that's also influenced my a lot through her songwriting and imagination, I love how her songs were always based on books and movies, how she was so mysterious and private about her life.
Which song/album currently dominates your attention?
I listen a lot to Childish Gambino's latest work, I am absolutely in love with the talent of this guy. He is one of the most talented multi-faced artists of our generation.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
So many people... But Daft Punk is probably my biggest dream.
If you could jam with one artist alive or dead, who would it be?
I would absolutely love to hang out with Serge Gainsbourg and try to steal him from Jane... to write a song!
Someone is making a film of your life, who will play you?
I am not sure, probably this actress is not born yet! I hope to live a very long life.
Lastly, tell us one thing you have never revealed in an interview...
That I am secretly writing a novel under a fake name.
