Some big names were out last night, with the likes of Daniel Kaluuya, Maya Jama, Joivan Wade and Michael Dapaah, (to name a few) graced the red carpet. Opening the night was UK rap legend, Giggs, who was as intense and powerful in his presence as ever.

GRM Daily certainly stepped up their game this year, with official broadcast partner Channel 4 on board, the event was a huge success for everyone involved. This is the first time GRM Daily have sold tickets to the public to attend the event, and the atmosphere was electric.

It was a huge night for the likes of Headie One who took home Breakthrough of the Year. His rise this year has been immense and rightly so, after the success of his mixtape ‘The One Two’. This recognition proves the mixtape rapper has a definite commercial presence.

Actor, rapper and comedian Michael Dapaah was awarded The Personality of the Year Award and made sure to shout out all the female nominees in this category. “Big up to the females in this category and all the other entertainers; big up yourself, this one’s for you.”
An absolute highlight of the night was performance by singer Ray Blk, of her single ‘run run’. Exceptional production and can’t wait to see more from her over this next year.

North West’s finest, Nines, was awarded with Album of the Year for his work on ‘Crop Circles’, released back in April this year was met with widespread critical acclaim.

Grime superstar Not3s took home the Artist of the Year Award. Other winners included Fredo who was awarded Mixtape of the Year, whilst Charlie Sloth took home Radio DJ of the Year. Best Video of the Year went to Rapman and Kenzo was honoured with the KA Get Rated Award. AJ Tracey ft Not3s was presented with the Track of the Year Award.

GRM Daily are undoubtedly leaders in honouring the true heroes of the genre, with the GRM Legacy Award (Supported by BBC Radio1 Xtra) was awarded to D Double E. He closed the event with a commanding performance of his best hits. The iconic rapper from East London has been a huge player in the music industry, with a career spanning over 15 years.

Now in their fourth year, the awards continue to be supported by prestigious partners like YouTube Music, BBC Radio1 Xtra and of course long-time partner KA Drinks, all pioneers in promoting the British urban culture.
