2016 changed Christina Taylor's world. She won the chance to open for Keith Urban. Suddenly the North Carolina based songstress was on the musical map. As with many of her contemporaries, Christina's music has been shaped by the R&B, pop and soul that shaped her childhood listening, as well as the Country that she now adores. With her latest single American Dreamin' tipped to be her breakout single, we caught up with the talented songsmith.

2017 - what will you look back on most fondly from the year?

I will look back most fondly on the amount of friendships and personal connections I’ve made through music. Whether it was writing with someone or someone hearing my music and telling me how much they loved it, all of those personal connections mean something to me and made my 2017 amazing!

Did you make any new year's resolutions at the outset of 2017?

My only New Year's resolution was to stop worrying so much. I am definitely an over thinker and sometimes that can make it hard for me to live in the moment, but I’d like to turn over a new leaf.

What was the biggest lesson you learned in 2017?

The biggest lesson I learned in 2017 was that you have to go out and make your own opportunities. They are not just going to fall in your lap, you have to make them happen!

What was the musical highlight of 2017?

My musical highlight of 2017 was having Radio Disney Country play my music. Having support from such an amazing platform with great fans is the best feeling in the world!

Who are you excited to hear from in 2018?

I am excited to hear from a new artist named Austin Burke in 2018! He’s a close friend of mine and has some new music coming out that I think is going to blow everyone away!

Tell us about your current music?

My current music that I have out now is definitely “ Country Soul” music. Every time I release an EP it lets people in on a little bit of who I am at that point in my life. I am excited to release some more new music that shows who I am now!

If you had to pick three artists to be filed next to, who would they be and why?

Eric Church, P!nk and Adele. The reason I would rant to be filed by them of all people is because they are the artists who made me want to be an artist myself!

What inspired "American Dreamin"?

There is a lot that has gone on in America the last few years and sometimes it can seem like we’ve never been more divided. “American Dreamin” is a message to people telling them to come together and realize how lucky we are to be Americans and live in this country. This song is about hope, faith and love, something I believe the world needs a little more of right now.

If "American Dreamin" were an animal, what animal would it be?

If “American Dreamin” were an animal it would be a bald eagle. Nothing represents America better!

Define your sound in five words...

Real, raw, Country Soul Music.

If you could jam with one artist alive or dead, who would it be?

If I could Jam with one Artist I would Jam with P!nk!

If you could have written one song by another artist, what would it be?

If I could have written one song by another artist I would have written “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus. I love the song and it’s message.

Someone is making a film of your life, who will play you?

I would love Jennifer Lawrence to play me! She is one of my favorite actors.

Lastly, tell us one thing you have never revealed in an interview...

The only thing I can think of that I’ve never revealed in an interview is that I broke my collar bone when I was 13 years old! I had to have two surgeries to completely fix it and I have a pretty big scar down my collar bone. I used to be very insecure about it but have learned to embrace it as a part of who I am. I would never try to hide it or cover it up!!
