Antonio Lulic offers a heartfelt anger filled tribute to jean charles de menezes, in new single ‘False Positives’.

In 2005, Jean Charles de Menezes was tragically shot dead on board the London tube following a tragic case of mistaken identity. Police mistook the Brazilian electrician, for a terrorist who had been involved in a failed plot a day earlier.

This harrowing song bluntly describes the method of the young man’s death, before going on to rail against the perceived lack of justice and brushing under the carpet by the authorities.
Lulic, sings: “mistakes have been made they said, the price has been paid but there is no one to blame, so the question goes unanswered and the debt goes unpaid, unpaid, unpaid.”
whatever one’s viewpoint on the adequacy or lack thereof of the authorities, it’s impossible not to appreciate the emotional sincerity within his voice.

As Lulic, sings of tragedy his pain and sorrow is plain for all to hear. As the song moves away from the events in Stockwell Station and turns its attention to sending a warning to face-saving officialdom, ‘False Positives’ loses sum of the Vividness that makes it so poignant.

Musically the setup works well, starting with some nice acoustic guitar to help set the tragic scene, before bringing the drums, and backing instrumentation, as the mood turns from sadness to anger.

It’s a sad part of life that a song like this should need to exist, but in creating it Lulic, has provided another reason why the mistakes of July 22, 2005 will never be forgotten.
