Vangelis Polydorou first wowed the nation with his vocals when he gave a personal and soulful rendition of Culture Club’s “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me” during his blind audition on the fifth series of The Voice UK. Culture Club frontman Boy George’s chair was the first to turn for the then 24-year-old singer.

Boy George said of Vangelis’ first audition “I have never really heard somebody do one of my songs that well until now. To hear you sing that song like that was a gift.”  Vangelis joined Team George and reached the live semi final. Watch his audition here.

A year on, Vangelis has embarked on a headline UK tour and performed at events such as The British LGBT Awards and The Icon Diversity Awards. Now, he is releasing his collaboration with production duo RetroPhobia, “Sweet Dreams”, a cover of the iconic 1983 Eurythmics hit “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)”.

Vangelis is currently working on new original music with a host of collaborators including Boy George.
