Dame Vera Lynn is 100 years young. While she may not be able to sing any longer, that does not mean that she is unable to celebrate this amazing milestone. To celebrate, her label Decca, have re-worked and boosted her back catalogue for this truly magical celebration of a true and worthy icon. Boasting high profile collaborations with Alfie Boe, Aled Jones and Alexander Armstrong alongside the pomp and ceremony of big band orchestrations, this is an album worthy of a living legend.

While Decca have pulled out all the stops to ensure the occasion is marked in an appropriate manner, what is most striking is that the star turn is delivered by the always flawless Lynn. Opening the collection is her signature song, We'll Meet Again, which now boasts the vocals of Alfie Boe. While the latter shines brightly, it is in the subtle delivery of Lynn that the song shines the brightest.

Although Boe brings something fresh to We'll Meet Again, Armstrong manages to detract from the magic of (There'll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs Of Dover, as his unimaginative and emotionless delivery falters against Lynn's own vocal turn. The charmed harmonies provided by Aled Jones on As Time Goes By turn the standard into something so much more special.

While the signature songs are most notable for their nostalgic twists, it is in Lynn's lesser known classics that the album really shines brightest. From the recently rediscovered Sailing through to the pure wonder of I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles. Although best known for her emotional balladry, 100 shows that Lynn can move with the best of them, and the stand out number is the brisk uplift of Wish Me Luck As You Wave Me Goodbye.
