Jack Savoretti debuted nearly a decade ago with Between The Minds, an album that showed a poetic streak to the primarily folk-driven songsmith. Since then he has released a steady flow of albums, but only really entered the mainstream consciousness when his fourth studio album, Written In The Stars, played on a more mainstream, radio friendly sound that saw him rewarded with not just critical acclaim but huge support from Radio 2. As a result he achieved his highest ever chart positioning, a #7 for the album - which knocked 63 positions of his previous record for his debut. As he approaches album #5, Sleep No More, the pressure has heightened as he now needs to capitalise on the success of it's predecessor.

Sleep No More will easily achieve the same success as it's predecessor for it plays into the hands of the tastemakers that ensured the success of Written In The Stars. While this may not be the news that his early fans may have wanted to hear, but they need to not fret just yet, for what Savoretti has so skilfully achieved, is a balance of his poetic folk tendencies and a more mainstream soft rock sound.

Lead single When We Were Lovers opens the album with a driven flair. Savoretti shoots straight for heart and hips as he marries moving lyrics with a compelling hook that will have you singing along in no time at all. For fans of this more pop rock sound, Sleep No More is filled with delights, from the irrepressible Helpless to the rather lush Only You.

However, it is when he channels his inner Leonard Cohen that he raises his own bar on Sleep No More. The pensive I'm Yours is easily the album's shining star, but it is nearly equalled by album closer Lullaby Loving.

Although some may be disappointed that their troubadour has released his most commercial album to date, others will be thrilled to see he has managed to do so without shedding his inner self. With Sleep No More Jack Savoretti is on the brink of becoming a household name, stadium filling artist.
