Scottish ramshackled two piece, The Rivers, release their self-proclaimed country-grunge single “9 Miles High” on Sanchez Recordings on 1st July.

Hitting the ground running the retro bluesy riff vigorously drags the track into fruition, the grungey and gruff vocals joins in before a pulsing drum beat accompanies to drive the track through.

The piercing melodic guitar remains widely unchanged throughout with the jangly hyperkinetic melodies complimenting each other throughout. The duo offer a new gruff vintage feel to a growing trend of guitar and drum outfits and this is a very accomplished and individual sophomore single. It is proof that bands don’t need a large ensemble of instrumentation to create good music, just pure and simple rock and roll can do the trick.

The track has strong influences from their own country grunge to deeper tones in blues rock. The brash vocals cutting through into the chorus and also sharp guitar slices evoke a strong punk feel to the track too.

The music video accompanying it displays the jack-the-lad rock track follow a night with the duo in a city moving from practice to the pub and all the antics in-between. “9 Miles High” is the follow up track after debut single “Silver Rose” which will culminate in the release of their debut album later this year.

The group begin a hectic next few months ahead by playing Glasgow’s King Tuts Summer Nights Festival on July 24th. The twosome also have a 10 date European tour planned for October on the run up to the release of their debut album. The album itself was recorded and mixed at Green Door Studio Glasgow by Emily MacClaren.

“9 Miles High” is a confident message as to what is to come from the Scotsman with another fierce duo ready to join the scene.
