Last Sunday, Barnardo’s organised a one-of-a-kind gig at the Roundhouse: they invited Joss Stone and many of her musician friends to perform in the aim of raising money to help make a difference in children’s lives.

Barnado’s is an amazing charity that was created 150 years ago by Thomas John Barnardo. Its mission is to care for vulnerable children and young people all over the UK. Joss Stone, touched by their fantastic enterprise, accepted the invitation to perform a special gig.
Dressed in a long white dress, her blond wavy locks floating around her angelic face, Joss Stone appeared on stage at 8:30pm.

Bare-footed, she launched the concert with Newborn, an engaged song about our planet. She made sure to thank the audience, saying: “It’s lovely. Barnardo’s is an inspiration to many young people and to many of us.”
She brought along some of her friends, the ones that have inspired her musically. The first one to join her on stage was Nitin Sawhey. Together, they performed I Ask You, Breathing Light and Let Me Breathe.

Nitin stuck around until the rest of the evening, joining in with his colourful voice and energetic guitar-playing skills.
Stone then welcomed Dennis Bovell and Linton Kwesi Johnson. It was an occasion to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Rowing, one of Johnson’s massive hits. Linda Lewis arrived on stage to perform a wonderful rendition of Sideways Shuffle.

Joss Stone made sure to please the crowd by singing some well known and loved songs like Say A Little prayer, It’s A Man’s World and Ain’t No Mountain, in duo with Jocelyn Brown.
The last guest of the nigh was Lemar, with whom the singer performed Someday We’ll Be Together.

The evening slowly coming to an end, Joss Stone made sure to thank everyone who came along one more time before closing the gig with Son Of A Preacher man. It was Stone’ only performance in the UK for this year and she gave it her all, having fun on stage and interacting with her guests as well as with the audience. The singer was glowing and kept smiling and giggling.

We wish all the best to Barnardo’s and thank them for a great night!
