The Carnabys are Ben Gittins, Mike Delizo, Jack Mercer, Frankie Connolly and James Morgan from south-west London, who have impressed some pretty big names in the industry already. Collecting praise from the likes of Blondie and Phil Manzanera has meant their stock has risen over the last two years - since they beat more than 12,000 global artists to win ‘Hard Rock Rising 2013’.

Ahead of an album later in 2016, Peaches and Bleach arrives with a refreshing burst of energy and a sense of nostalgia. It sounds and feels like a song from a time long since passed. There's a raw and natural feel in the opening burst of "Thrown in the towel and I'm ringing the bell". Then there's a burst of joyful guitar before a delicious chorus. Before you know it, the song is over in an exuberant burst of pop rock fizz. All done in 2 and a half minutes.

They don't really make records like this anymore and that maybe the one problem for The Carnabys. Competing against the tide of souped-up pop or introspective male singer songwriters may leave them struggling to make their mark. Let's hope not, because the industry needs a bit of a kicking and this five-piece look like they could help out.
