December is here, Christmas is just around the corner and that means it is time for another traditional concert: the Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball with Coca-Cola. Two nights in a row, a whole weekend of musical celebrations with one of the most amazing line-up possible!
Music News was behind the scenes, on the Red Carpet, and talked to the artists and performers.

As you know by now, Christmas is on its way. What better time could there be to recall about our fondest Christmas memories? We asked the singers and artists to share theirs with us. Brace yourself for some serious emotional and cheerful stories!

What do Fleur East and Leigh-Anne from Little Mix have in common? They both met Santa!
Fleur recalls her granddad dressing up as Santa and her sister trying on his costume: “But it was too big for her so she got loads of cushions to stuff it up. She wore the beard and everything! I think it’s my fondest memory because, every year since, we forced her to do the same thing. It has become a tradition now!”
Leigh-Anne’s dad was the one dressing up every year. One year, he even surprised her with a letter from the actual Santa: “It was in squiggly writing and I really thought it was true, seeing how authentic it looked. Now, I know it was him, but it made me really happy!”

Loads of memories are linked to presents and some of them might have influenced the career path of the artists: Cameron Edwards, from Sigma, received a pair of decks when he was twelve. Jason Derulo said that he was barely sleeping the night before Christmas: “We just wanted to open the gifts. It didn’t matter what the gifts were; it was just the act of being together and opening them.” Tinie Tempah recalls desperately wanting a Playstation: “I remember being in our South-East London flat, all six of us, and going through presents and my present was the shape of a Playstation but it was an art set. I remember I was really angry that day! As I look back, I appreciate just the fact that they could give me something.” The Years and Years guys thought about the time they got a Nintendo 64 and “ we played Goldeneye for a week solid!”
Boys and their video games, eh…

Christmas is also a time where you spend time with your family. The boys from Wstrn think that “Christmas alone is the best occasion to spend time with your family”. Carly Rae Jepsen told us about what sounded like a lot of fun: “One year, we had this great outdoor snow fight with all my family!”
Nathan Sykes’ fondest memory is kind of a tradition: “Every year, just sitting down with my family and watching movies, especially since I have been travelling so much these past few years. And spending time with my dog!” Another singer who connects Christmas with puppies is Bradley Simpson, from The Vamps: “I remember the first Christmas I had a dog. She’s a Golden Retriever named Jess. It was so nice; she was running around in the tree. That was good!”

The holiday season is also linked to food! Katy B told us about the first Christmas she cooked for her family: “My dad was my sous-chef. I remember thinking I was going to be really stressed but just spending time with my dad was really enjoyable and lovely.”
Perrie from Little Mix loved putting out the biscuits and the carrots for the reindeers. “And beer for Santa.” “A glass of Brandy” Jade decided to add.
Santa must have been in quite a state after visiting the Little Mix ladies’ houses! Probably a state similar to Joe Lenzie’s mum: the other half of Sigma recalled his mum “getting wasted. She drinks so much champagne. Christmas is her excuse to start drinking at 9 or 10 in the morning. I mean, it’s acceptable on Christmas day.”

Talking about our fondest Christmas memories made us fuzzy and warm inside. We think the Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball with Coca-Cola helped spread the Christmas cheer and want to take this occasion to wish you a very happy and merry Christmas!
