Raindrops of piano open this debut single from south London singer Rhyan - but it's the cello that arrives almost half way through that's the magical ingredient. It lifts When I'm With You from good to sublime, showing how a subtle touch of production can transform a song.

The track was written a few years ago, when the young soul singer was 14 - and is a brave release as a debut. There are no clever tricks and his voice is left exposed for much of the 3 minutes.

Rhyan will release an EP later this year - and this is a promising introduction. With influences ranging from Prince to Fall Out Boy it could be a fascinating listen!
