Riffed, from Truro are newcomers on the burgeoning live scene in Cornwall. Having formed as schoolfriends a few years ago these guys have built a solid reputation for themselves playing local gigs over the last couple of years.

Tonight, upstairs at the Live bar in Truro they come onstage to a packed out crowd and launch into a cover of Supersonic. It's odd to think that most of these guys probably weren't born when Liam first belted out " I neeeeeed to beee myseeeelfffaaa". They pull it off, albeit without the Gallagher swagger, a good start to open the set with a number most of us can instantly sing along to.

Riffed play solid, indie rock, (and they play it well) which is well layered with 2 guitarists and a keyboard player complementing the rhythm section to form an intense comprehensive sound. Lead vocal duties are swapped around a bit providing a great deal of variation in the sound and styles we get tonight.

The crowd sings along to Covers as varied as Take On Me, Johnny Be Goode, Maroon 5's Payphone and Sex On Fire. But it's the bands own songs which shine tonight, with songs like This Ain't Rock And Roll, The Tale Of You And I, Out Of Town , and crowd favourite Change Your Mind, truly showcasing these guy's songwriting abilities.

It's good for emerging bands to bung a some covers in to keep the crowd interested sometimes, but I would say these guys would be better off ditching a few in favour of concentrating on their own compositions and developing their own, already exciting sound.

After a rousing finale of Sex On Fire, Riffed leave the stage to a crowd wanting more, before long you're likely to see these guys sharing the bill with other widely touted local talents like Auction For The Promise Club and Black Tambourines who are currently thrilling crowds in Cornwall's exciting live music scene.
