Belgian five-piece Balthazar are another modern band in love with some of the moody and atmospheric electronic music of the early eighties. Leipzig has a feel of Maximo Park, with its haunting opening and insistent base and it is a strong statement of intent, with a song that should expand their UK fanbase.

The band played 123 European shows across 2013, underlining a determined work ethic that could pay dividends ahead of their third album. Quite what the love affair is with the German Saxon town of Leipzig is unclear, but whatever the motives this is a song that paints pictures of rainy, black and white videos, the kind of which would have adorned the song had it been released in the early eighties.

An intriguing single - and one of the best of the year so far - to prove that it's not just great footballers that Belgium is producing right now.
