Hinted at on social media last week with a picture of his guitar, GUN can now officially announce that original guitarist Alex Dickson is returning to the band, playing his comeback show at this bank holiday weekend’s Stag & Dagger festival in Glasgow.
Alex previously played with the band, working on GUN's 2nd album ‘Gallus’, recording hits like ‘Steal Your Fire’ and ‘Welcome To The Real World’, as well as the MTV award winning ‘Word Up’. Since leaving the band Alex has played with some of music's biggest stars as a session guitarist – most notably recording and playing with Bruce Dickinson, Robbie Williams and Calvin Harris.
GUN’s Jools Gizzi says: “Alex was an integral part of the band during the 'Gallus' era and featured on GUN's biggest hit 'Word Up', which appeared on the 'Swagger' album. His phenomenal guitar playing always made a massive impact at live shows and we really can't wait for you all to see him play live again. We've been working away in the studio, writing for the next GUN album. We can't wait for the fans to hear the new material.”
GUN had a busy 2015, releasing their 7th studio album ‘Frantic’. They also recorded a version of Hot Chocolate’s ‘Every 1’s A Winner’ – as well as touring relentlessly.
GUN’s contemporary take on authentic rock gives them an edge over their peers. Formed in Glasgow by brothers Dante and Jools Gizzi, they came to re-invent the rock ‘n’ roll genre, and were recognised with numerous plaudits and awards, including the first ever MTV Europe Music Award for Best Cover. Over the years the band have toured the world with acts such as The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Simple Minds, Bryan Adams and Def Leppard.
