Today, Nine-time GRAMMY® Award-winner and 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Sheryl Crow releases her 11th full-length studio album, Evolution, via The Valory Music Co. Featuring nine new songs, the album is produced by Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Maroon 5, Keith Urban, Gary Clark Jr.).
Evolution features the single "Alarm Clock,” co-written with Elizondo and Emily Weisband. Crow took to the stage on Good Morning America today for an electrifying live performance of the album’s contemplative title track, “Evolution,” following an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers yesterday evening. The new album also features recently released songs, “Do It Again” and “Digging In The Dirt” featuring Peter Gabriel, with the latter available exclusively on the Digital Deluxe version of Evolution.
Crow publicly stated that she would not release another full-length album after Threads (2018), so Evolution comes as a welcomed surprise. “Everything is more song-oriented now with streaming, and making an album is a huge endeavor,” says Crow. “I started sending just a couple demos to Mike, but the songs kept flowing out of me, and it was pretty obvious this was going to be an album.”
Evolution is Sheryl Crow at her most authentically human self. “This music and these lyrics came from sitting in the quiet and writing from a deep soul place. I said I’d never make another record—thought there was no point to it, but this music comes from my soul. I hope whoever hears this record can feel that.”
