Villanelle & the Northern Wonder is the new solo project of K. Greville. Having gained acclaim as a member of London based group Plastic People, K. Greville has branched out into this, his first solo venture.
Drawing from a variety of influences ranging from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds to Father John Misty; David Bowie to The Last Shadow Puppets. Villanelle & The Northern Wonder embodies a sound that is undeniably indebted to the past whilst also embracing the future.
After Plastic People decided to take an unofficial hiatus in 2018, K. Greville decided to explore alternative creative outlets. The resulting writing sessions would eventually evolve into Villanelle & The Northern Wonder.
The result delicately marries lyrics exploring a variety of subjects from modern life to existential crisis and intricately pairs them with lush arrangements with dark sonic undertones producing a unique and highly stylised sound.
Pre production for the upcoming releases began in late 2018 with the help of London based producer Ian Flynn (Werkhouse Productions).
In early 2019, recording began at London's Musicland Studios and finished up in the mastering department of world renowned studio Metropolis in Chiswick.
Having signed a global distribution agreement with Industry leaders AWAL, 2019 promises to be a breakthrough year for Villanelle & The Northern Wonder.
