Itchy Teeth, three piece from London received the email from Working Title one year ago saying they were set to share the stage with Ed Sheeran and record at Abbey Road in their next feature film about a world where the Beatles never existed.
Within weeks they were playing new Beatles arrangements at Abbey Road, playing at Wembley Stadium with Himesh Patel and performing on a rooftop at Gorleston Beach to the largest amount of UK extras ever to appear on a UK film.
After playing together for over 10 years, singer songwriters Xav Mingus & Charlie Hannah were connected by their love of the Beatles whilst at University. Drummer and Ringo obsessed Oli Booker joined shortly after and have treasured their endless list of Beatles renditions ever since alongside their originals band.
In Margate, Charlie was teaching Musical Director Adem Ilhan’s children the piano. He was a keen Itchy Teeth fan and fully aware of their Beatles exploits, gigging and busking throughout Europe and knew his band would be the perfect one to present to Danny Boyle.
Now gearing up to release their third album, Itchy Teeth say:
“After a year of involvement in the film we now have a new line up. A new wave of enthusiasm in the band has made our recordings noticeably fresh and optimistic, both in the subject matter and performance.
Our electric guitars have since been replaced with a synthesiser, keys and a six-string bass, giving a more energetic and immediate punch to our usual brand of psychedelic pop. Harmonies and vocal swapping sits on top of a bouncing and crashing rhythm section - adorned with bleeps and drips from the synth. On the same day the album of Beatles songs comes out, we have our first release and lead single from our forthcoming album.”
My Brain is Raining is full of fuzzy bass, euphoric drumming and the mind melting major riffs from several keyboards, telling the story of how brains and clouds look so similar and that both are prone to a heavy downpour… for fans of Supertramp, 10CC, Flaming Lips, of Montreal, Todd Rundgren, The Lemon Twigs… and of course The Beatles.
