Following their sold out European tour that concluded this week with two Shepherds Bush Empire shows, today Bear’s Den release their new studio album ‘So that you might hear me’ on Communion Records. Listen to ‘So that you might hear me’ here: https://BearsDen.lnk.to/Sothatyoumighthearme

Sonically sitting effortlessly between 2014’s Ivor Novello nominated ‘Islands’ and 2016’s top ten ‘Red Earth and Pouring Rain’, ‘So that you might hear me’ fuses acoustic instruments and electronics throughout the album so organically it seems foolish to distinguish between them. The result is a record that is both bold and exposed, at once intimate and widescreen. While the music leads the listener down different paths, the lyrics unfold as though revealing secrets, each line littered with clues. Pairing melodies with poignant and personal lyricism, the need for connection lies at the heart of So that you might hear me.

The album was recorded at several studios in Seattle with producer Phil Ek (The Shins, Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty) and was mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Metronomy). Band members Andrew Davie and Kevin Jones explain, “The album started out as an attempt at trying to communicate with someone honestly. Our thoughts are not all rational, not all considered or tied up with ribbons and bows. This album is an attempt to reveal the honest and difficult challenge of communicating with anyone that you really care about.”

Emblematic of their heartfelt and poignant lyricism, last week the band released new track and the album’s shimmering centrepiece, ‘Crow’, alongside an emotional new video. Watch here: https://BearsDen.lnk.to/CrowVid

‘Crow’ is one of Bear’s Den’s most personal songs to date. Of the track, singer Andrew Davie says, "The song ‘Crow’ was written in memory of my Mum's boyfriend who lived with us growing up. He was an awesome guy and somewhere between a father figure and a best friend to me growing up but unfortunately he passed away when I was 15. I wrote this song as I wanted to acknowledge how important and thankful I am to him for helping to raise me and my sister.

The London-based band played music in various incarnations before officially forming in 2012. Their 2014 debut album, Islands, earned them an Ivor Novello nomination, while their 2016 album, Red Earth & Pouring Rain, reached #6 in the UK album chart. The band have sold almost 500,000 records over the course of their career and after four years of nonstop touring have sold over 100,000 tickets worldwide including global festival appearances at Bonnaroo and Glastonbury.

The band have also launched podcast series in the run up to the release of their new album, written and hosted by Sugar High’s Danny Carissimi. Listen here: https://bearsden.lnk.to/ThePodcast
