Every week, Music News and Liberty Music look at the best new releases from emerging and self-releasing artists.

Like Swimming - Fire on the Field

Taken from their new EP and forthcoming double EP or album, Fire on the Field closes out Like Swimming’s return project Resistance. The slowly burning ballad reimagines their trademark alt-pop sounds towards more a downtempo, almost rock influenced atmosphere - a testament to their distinction as a band, the ability navigate between genres with ease whilst retaining their trademark flavourful sound.

Misty Coast - Loophole

With such a substantial wall of sound, it’s hard to believe that Norwegian shoegaze act Misty Coast is merely a duo. Taken from the Melodaze LP from January, Loophole is a strong introduction to this consistently stellar act of which the video pairs perfectly with the sound, like a hazy and lucid stream of consciousness working perfectly in sync.

Summer Heart - Buckle Up

Summer Heart makes quintessential dreamy pop, that lives the perfect dichotomy of being both charmingly lo-fi and simultaneously crisp and clean - a delightfully wonderous concoction. The skill and breadth of his talent have been truly displayed throughout the #12songsofsummer project, a monthly single release with Buckle Up closing it off.

Cat Burns - Cheater

Burgeoning singer-songwriter Cat Burns is building a solid reputation for herself thanks to her transparent and relatable writing style. Cheater is a level headed view on love and speaks volumes for her emotional maturity that extend beyond her humble age of 18 years. Expect this young talent to rise to the top very quickly - and rightly so.

Louise Lemón - Montaña

Led by her powerful vocal, Louise Lemón approaches new single Montaña with perfectly executed 60s and 70s psych-rock and soul flavours and only proves to further whet appetites for the forthcoming album A Broken Heart Is An Open Heart, which she produced alongside Randall Dunn (Chelsea Wolfe, Thurston Moore, Algiers).

JDP - Castaways

Award-winning Chicago native, multi-hyphenate, and member of eclectic production group Swim Team, JDP is a far from your typical artist. New single Castaways is a smooth and syllable blending mixture of hip-hop and R&B themes and the perfect introduction to his sound, and shining lead single from latest project Where Were You When.
