The Gig Company has raised £230,000 at their annual ‘An Evening With Suggs and Friends’ fundraising event in aid of Pancreatic Cancer UK, at London’s Porchester Hall.

‘An Evening With Suggs and Friends’ hosted an incredible evening of live music from Madness frontman Suggs, Emeli Sandé and chart topping British reggae band UB40 featuring Ali, Astro & Mickey.

Four time BRIT Award winner Emeli Sandé surprised guests with a phenomenal tribute to the late, great Aretha Franklin, who sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer earlier this year, triumphing the great hit ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman’. This followed an electrifying performance of Emeli’s award winning single ‘Next To Me’.

Suggs brought laughter and joy with his schoolboy humour and left the crowd in standing ovations, following his performance of classic hits ‘Our House’ and ‘It Must Be Love’. UB40 featuring Ali, Astro & Mickey completed the evening with their feel good reggae favourites ‘Red Red Wine’ and ‘I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You’.

The evening also included a VIP auction where guests were able to bid on some sensational prizes. This year’s wins included tickets to Glastonbury, exclusive framed photographs of Mick Jagger & Ronnie Wood 1974 donated by The Rolling Stones, a limited edition picture taken and designed by Annie Lennox, a Gibson Les Paul Guitar was signed by Emeli Sande, UB40, Suggs and more.

Nearly 10,000 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the UK every year, with less than seven per cent of people with pancreatic cancer expected to live beyond five years. Despite being the deadliest common cancer, it has been historically underfunded receiving only 1% of the cancer budget.
