Music-News.com is proud to host the exclusive world premiere of Mental by Luiz Bruno.
Mental is the first single from the new album ‘Everything’s Fine’ by Luiz Bruno
After last year's , debut double A- side ‘Yeah’ / ‘Words Are Not Reality’ where Luiz Bruno combined the humour and witticisms of the late great Frank Zappa along with a sound that brings George Clintons Parliament and Funkadelic vibes straight into 2018, the Brazilian native based in London is back with a full length album and two fresh new videos.
Recorded in a period of one year in Archway, North London, the new album is called "Everything's Fine" and consists of 12 songs (including Yeah and Words Are Not Reality) and was mixed and mastered in Brazil. The new songs combine psychedelic rock and 80s new wave influences while the lyrics deal with the mind, shamanism, self-doubt, madness and other psychological issues that are very relevant in today's anxiety riddled modern world. "The record was originally going to be called 'Mental' after the track of the same name, then it was finally decided on 'Everything's Fine' and that's how I pretty much feel sometimes, like I may feel like I'm losing my mind one minute then I have deep feeling of peace and I remember that everything is actually okay, it's a kind of schizo place my head" says Luiz Bruno about the album title.
The first single is called "Mental" and was written in mid 2017 and is about feeling completely overwhelmed by the madness perceived in a world going through dark times. The video was shot in Margate and produced once again by DogBrain videos who have already worked on last year's 'Yeah' single.
The second single is 'The Ballad of Cool Lane' and is a gentle, melodic space ballad about magic, the streets of London, spirituality and hope .
Luiz definitely has his own unique flavour and style and his often bizarre personality is stamped on the album throughout. Future cult classic.
Luiz Bruno is a multi instrumentalist and vocalist who began playing from an early age in Porto Alegre on the southern tip of Brazil and now graces our UK shores since his arrival in 2013. He played with psychedelic bands in London and toured solo under his moniker "I Know I’m An Alien", performing at Fat Our Festival in Manchester, among others. Leaving the alter ego behind, Luiz Bruno now turns to the sound of 80s drum machines, adhering to the tones and aesthetic of that time as well as adding elements of psychedelic rock.
His shows are unmissable as his mad genius style galavants across his soundscapes with the help of drum machines, synthesizers, bass loops and his unique atonal guitar sound. An exciting 4 piece band is being put together to bring the new album to life on stage.
Luiz Bruno’s music is avant garde but at the same time danceable and accessible to all. Luiz Brunos genre is the"Psychomequie", created by him to describe his own music. The name comes from the union of the words "psico" (or "psyche") and "comé que é?" which means "what was that?", in portuguese.
