DJ Yoda has today released his video for single ‘London Fields’. The video, directed by Mike Rodgers features DJ Yoda himself, as well as Joel Culpepper, the jazz/soul vocalist who features on the single.

‘London Fields’ is the first single to come from DJ Yoda in over two years, and displays a new approach to the way he makes his music. Acting at once as songwriter, producer and instrumentalist – the mature atmosphere created on ‘London Fields’ is a sign of what’s to come from the prolific DJ, turntablist and producer. With inflections of Jazz, R&B and Soul, the track deals with overcoming life’s obstacles and the power of positivity.

Of the single, DJ Yoda says: “The moment I heard Joel’s voice I knew I wanted to work with him. He just has this quality that could be from any era, which was exactly the vibe I wanted for this song.”

An award-winning and multi-faceted artist, DJ Yoda’s influence on the British and global cultural landscape is unique and unparalleled. His acclaimed and seminal debut album ‘How to Cut and Paste Mix Tape Vol.1’ showcased his deftness for creative turntablism, his crate-digging approach to sample selection, and injected a much-needed dose of levity and humour to a genre which at times suffered under the weight of posturing and earnestness.

Yoda followed this with similarly electric and genre-bending releases, and has performed live shows across the globe which pioneer the confluence of audio mashup DJing and visual mixing.

He has performed at countless prestigious events and festivals, including at Banksy’s pop-up Bemusement Park Dismaland, the BFI’s Sonic Cinema Event where he was commissioned to create DJ Yoda Goes to the Sci-Fi Movies, and as part of BBC Music Day, where Radio 4 invited him to mash-up the entire station, remixing The Archers, the Shipping Forecast, and John Humphrys. His legacy as an iconic British DJ is evident: in 2015 he was Dr Dre’s first choice to record a guest mix on his inaugural Beats 1 show for Apple Music, and he was immortalised when chosen as a featured artist on the 2009 Activision DJing video game DJ Hero.
