Charli XCX has unveiled her official vide for “1999” feat. Troye Sivan.



Co-produced by XCX alongside Ryan Staake (Diplo, J.Cole), the video pays homage to 1999 and is jam-packed with standout, cultural references from that year across music, film and technology, with Charli and Troye channelling the following throughout specific scenes: American Beauty, Steve Jobs, TLC, Titanic, Spice Girls, New Radicals, Backstreet Boys, Eminem, Marilyn Manson and Dita Von Teese, Baby G, The Sims, Nokia, Dancing Baby, The Matrix, Justin Timberlake, The Blair Witch Project and more. A true visionary, this isn’t the first time Charli’s turned her hand to her official videos. For her 2017 summer anthem “Boys”, XCX took full creative control across casting, directing and producing the official video, which was released to global critical-acclaim and commanded a blockbuster cast including Stormzy, Riz Ahmed, Diplo and Joe Jonas.

Released on Friday, “1999” has been storming charts across the globe, having amassed five million streams and counting – the track was recently added to Radio 1’s playlist.
