Tom Speight releases video for new single ‘Want You’
11 September 2018
London-based artist Tom Speight shares the video for ‘Want You’ today, September 11th. 'Want You' is the first single taken from his forthcoming album set for release in Spring 2019.
The video was Director // Jodie Canwell (michael kiwanuka, Lucy Rose) and filmed on location in Paris.
The majority of the video was shot on a Super 8 camera. Tom is a big fan of analogue cameras like Polaroids or film cameras! He wanted to capture a busy city in the summer bursting with life. Paris seemed like the perfect choice after his last European tour.
On the track, Tom quotes:- "I started recording my album in March and managed to record about half of it.. however, in April I was taken ill with my Crohn’s disease and ended up being in hospital for 2 months until I was in remission..10 days later I started recording and putting the finishing touches to ‘Want You’ I wanted to finish this first because it felt like the most positive song on the album and after a tough spell I wanted to put a positive edge on things! I recorded it with Chris Bond (Ben Howard) my long-term collaborator in Devon. It carries on what we’ve built so far, a mixture between folk indie pop! Influenced by The Shins & War on Drugs. It’s the next stage in my progression as an artist.'
Tom released four EP’s in 2017/2018; ‘Willow Tree’ Jan ’17 , ‘My My My’ July ’17, ‘Waiting’ Dec ‘17 and ‘Live At Studio 3’ April ’18.
He continues to gain strong support at Radio 2, including B & C playlist additions for his last 2 EP’s and has also reached a staggering 40m streams.
