Jack Jones of Trampolene releases debut solo single 'Swim Up' / 'It's Not My Thing'

JACK JONES, Swansea boy, dreamer and dole queue poet takes a step outside of his day job as frontman with Trampolene and releases a new double A side single. ‘Swim Up’ and ‘It’s Not My Thing’ were premiered on Radio One and Radio X respectively last night. The single sees JACK JONES revealing his more sensitive pop side with his unique take on songs of love and yearning. The single will be available on digital download (available now) and limited edition 7” vinyl and CD single through Mi7 Records on Friday 7th September.



The single was produced by Mike Moore (Liam Gallagher / Baxter Dury) and features Jamie (Pop) Morrison from the Stereophonics on drums. ‘Swim Up’ was mixed by Cenzo Townshend (Jamie T / Everything Everything) and ‘It’s Not My Thing’ by Josh Green (Peter Perrett / Ray Davies / Kathryn Williams). JACK JONES on working with Mike Moore and ‘Swim Up’ - “Mike thinks like a genius and lives for the truth...Drew McConnell (Babyshambles) introduced us and Mike has become one of my best mates. A couple of weeks after meeting I was playing guitar for Pete Doherty and he was playing guitar for Liam Gallagher...funny world.

“‘Swim Up’ was the third song we wrote together...at that time I was surrounded by the romance of a blossoming relationship and flew off to Paris for the very first date - quite cliched I guess, but it was the European Cup in France and Wales was playing, so I didn't mind watching the match under the Eiffel Tower. It resulted in something beautiful including the birth of ‘Swim Up’ - which is basically part of my first ever conversations with my dearest….”

JACK JONES performed at the O2 in London in front of a crowd of 20,000 on the last Libertines tour and in his role as lead guitarist for Peter Doherty & The Puta Madres continues to tour across Europe this summer.

Trampolene release a new 28 track compilation album ‘Pick A Pocket or Two’ on Friday 7th September. ‘Pick A Pocket or Two’ features songs and poems, not included on the band’s debut album ‘Swansea To Hornsey.’

The band recently played BBC Biggest Weekend in Swansea (headlining the BBC Introducing Stage), supported Kasabian at the O2 in Bristol and Liam Gallagher at Finsbury Park. The band appear at other festivals this season and also support The Sherlocks on six-shows in October.
