In 2014 acclaimed singer/songwriter Joan Armatrading embarked on her last major global outing. It took her almost two years, she played 235 shows and covered four different continents.

For almost two hours Joan held the stage. Not surprisingly it was a massive world-wide success and reviews were terrific. It was to be her last live outing of such a colossal length.

Now, as she releases her 21st album “Not Too Far Away”, Joan is about to set out again, and again playing it solo. This time it’s for a short tour of the States to be followed by an equally short tour of the UK later this year. Both are sure to be sell-outs.

Before she goes, however, there’s a chance for UK audiences to see what has made her the global star she is and hear some of the frighteningly good new music.

On May 11th Joan can be seen on Graham Norton’s BBC 1 TV show performing her new single “I Like It When We’re Together”, taken from the new BMG album. Afterwards she will join the other guests on the sofa. To coincide, BMG are now making the album generally available from May 11th .

Joan Armatrading is one of the UK’s most significant female exports. She well deserved her place at the top of the Billboard blues chart when the ‘Into The Blues’ CD came out. Her guitar playing was exemplary. Indeed in 2007 she not only became the first female UK artist of any colour to debut at number 1 in the Billboard Blues chart but she also became the first ever female UK artist of any colour to be nominated for a Grammy Award in the blues category.
