The legendary Procol Harum have announced they will perform their greatest-ever selling album in full, with symphony orchestra and chorus, in a very special show this October.
Following on from 2017’s hugely successful jubilee year in which Procol Harum released their critically-acclaimed new studio album ‘Novum’, selling out shows all over Europe (including both London’s Royal Festival Hall and Shepherd’s Bush Empire in the process), the group will now tip their caps to one of their most successful and influential pieces of work in a one-off concert at the London Palladium.
Procol Harum Live: In Concert with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra was recorded in 1971 at the Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Released in 1972, the album reached No. 5 on the Billboard Top 200, and was certified Gold.
Unique for its time, this one-off celebration of ‘rock-meets-classical’ proved a triumph, its setlist encompassing some of Procol’s best-known and loved tracks from their five-album career up to that point, including ‘A Salty Dog’ and ‘Conquistador’.
As well as ‘Edmonton’, the band will perform greatest hits and rarities, and fans from all over the world will be hoping for ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’, which also celebrated its jubilee last year – a magnificent milestone for one of the most ubiquitous and best-selling songs of all time.
Led by the ever-present singer, pianist and principal songwriter Gary Brooker MBE, the band also features Geoff Whitehorn (lead guitar), Josh Phillips (Hammond organ), Matt Pegg (bass Guitar), and Geoff Dunn (drums).
The show at the London Palladium will coincide with the release of the new fifty-year 8-disc Boxed Set Still There’ll Be More.
Procol Harum will perform the hugely influential Edmonton album in full, showcasing the staple orchestral blues-rock sound that has been the trademark of one of the most iconic, influential and progressive bands in music history.
