Newton Faulkner has announced an exclusive live show at London’s Omeara on Saturday 24th March as part of Give a Gig Week 2018, Youth Music’s flagship fundraising initiative. Tickets are on-sale now, available above.

In addition to the Omeara show, Newton will be visiting Youth Music’s project School Ground Sounds in Brixton where he will engage in a songwriting workshop. School Ground Sounds works with secondary schools and young people in lower income areas of London to provide additional music opportunities and to enhance their music education. Newton will be joined onstage by the students at Omeara to perform the song that they composed together.

Newton Faulkner said: “Youth Music is an awesome charity doing amazing work with young people. We all know how powerful music can be. It’s changed my life, immeasurably, and I know that getting the chance from Youth Music to get involved and be passionate about their music is changing the lives of thousands of young people every year. It’s also up to them what genre they want to get into, which is great. I’m delighted to support this work with my gig at Omeara and hope Give a Gig Week will help Youth Music reach out to more young people in need.”

In addition to Faulkner, Craig David, Pixie Lott, The Wombats, Dream Wife, and Femme have all pledged their support for Give a Gig Week 2018. They will be taking part in gigs across the world helping to raise funds for Youth Music, which supports 350 projects across the country for children and young people experiencing challenging circumstances. Give a Gig Week takes place from 16 – 25 March; last year’s initiative saw over 330 acts taking part in 119 gigs in venues across the country. The charity is calling for more musicians to join the week-long celebration of live music and fundraising.

Matt Griffiths, CEO, Youth Music said: “We’re thrilled to have Newton on board for Give a Gig Week. It’s great that he shares our mission to make sure that more young people experiencing challenges circumstances can make music and achieve their potential. Thanks also for his work with young musicians from School Ground Sounds helping them with their song-writing. What a brilliant opportunity for them to work with such a great musician.”

Give a Gig Week will be a nationwide music-making extravaganza, with the charity aiming to have at least 100 fundraising gigs taking place. Gigs can take place anywhere: be it a living room, the local pub, arena or a more unusual space. Getting involved is easy - anyone who is planning to put on a gig should register it at www.giveagig.org.uk where they will find a range of resources to help them make their gig an unmissable event, including guides on planning, publicising and fundraising.
