"Cavalier" is the first single from the new EP, which is titled "Medieval". The EP was recorded and produced by the band. Mixing by Ian Flynn of Werkhouse, Mastering by Tim Debney of Fluid Mastering.
From The Cave is a five-piece band which has members from the UK, Sweden, Latvia, Denmark and Spain.
Kristian Moller (vocals and guitar), Mikaela Lindgren (vocals and keys), Joshua Wade-Scriven (vocals guitar), Johan Crondahl (bass) and Anton Vysotsky (drums).
The recording of the new EP took over a year, to the point where most of the songs have been recorded twice from scratch. The band have truly pushed themselves out of their comfort zone, and this EP feels like a departure in musical terms for the band. The EP borrows influences from a much wider range of music styles (rock, reggae, punk, pop, reggaeton, disco, blues) than the bands first EP (From The Cave, 2016). They realised that they have more fun when they are not completely tied to a specific sound or music genre. This EP also has performances on lead vocals from three different band members: Kristian, Mikaela and Josh.
Every track of the EP points in a very different direction musically, but it feels like there's a red thread under the theme of "Medieval": the image of a society where both hierarchies and superstition have an important role, Shakespearean love stories unfold, violence and adventure take place.
Some of the songs on the EP are inspired by specific locations and people from London. This is the case with the EP's first single: Cavalier (a cabaret sounding track), that was inspired by the cabaret shows at the Cellar Door in Covent Garden, London, where the band often visit. The release of the song also marks the 3rd year anniversary of the band.
As a result of this, the music video for Cavalier was inspired by the"Cellar Door". The 3D animation-video was created by the band member Kristian Moller, and it includes an "animated appearance" of the whole band alongside a group of extravagant characters. The videos of the EP are being created with an "open source" 3-D program called Blender. More will be revealed. But all we can say is that each song will have it's own video. For this EP release the band wanted to go further than the actual music, and create a "world" for people to dive into.
