ARCAVES are an alternative pop band from Southend, Essex, UK. In the back of a broken-down car in a pine forest in Sweden 2014, ARCAVES were formed. After selling their car to pay for flights back to the UK, the band locked themselves away in a Southend studio to craft their unique take on pop, which they call 'Dirty Pop’.
BBC Introducing Essex announced ARCAVES as one the artists for “Sound of 2017” with Ollie WB championing the band from the very beginning of their career.
May 2017 saw the release of ARCAVES’ fifth single “Familiar Stranger” with the video premiering on Spindle Magazine and live sessions on BBC Introducing, FUBAR Radio with Harriet Rose and culminated in a sold out single launch show presented by Camden Rocks at The Crowndale.
Familiar Stranger was both Record of the Day and Record of the Week with ARCAVES performing an acoustic session which was live streamed across The Independent’s social media channels at The Great Escape 2017. Further reviews and interviews included 1883 Magazine, Music News, Cool Music and Things.
ARCAVES’ sixth single “Don’t You Love The Rain” continues with their distinct take on pop. Heavy hitting carnival drums complimented by salient and driving synths bring their characteristic mix of pop, dance and house together, which sits perfectly under their unique blend of female and male vocal. All of which provide the background for a tale of hedonism and abandonment with the track fast becoming a live favourite for the band and their fans.
The accompanying video follows the band on their journey this year from the van to the stage, and provides an insight into the incredible year they’ve had so far.
Billy Wright (vocals and guitar) explains “I wrote this song after a night out in Brighton. There was a huge thunderstorm and a few of us decided to run from my friend's house down to the sea. It was during winter and the sea was freezing so I stopped as everyone ran ahead, and my friend turned around and shouting "you're swallowing the moment!!” and that’s where the idea struck me for Don’t You Love The Rain!
