Mark Christopher Lee frontman of cult indie band The Pocket Gods has hailed the 30 second song as the future of songwriting in an interview with BBC World news.

The Pocket Gods' infamously released an album of 100 songs all 30 seconds long as statement on streaming royalties for artists. Mark Christopher Lee was inspired by an article by Professor Mike Errico who questioned why artists were in fact giving away 2 and a half minutes for free (on a 3 minute pop song) as services such as Spotify pay out a royalty once a track hits 30 seconds and then no more. He asked why artists weren't adapting to the media of today and writing songs especially for the way streaming services work.

The Pocket Gods have taken this as their mission to change the way artists write songs and even this week Spotify announced that they were shortening classic rock and pop songs down into a 30 second version. Added to this new artists such as Katy Perry are also doing 30 second versions to hook listeners in to their "product".

The Pocket Gods are releasing 10 singles all 30 seconds long on 27th October all of which are about the music industry - track title include:
Drop That Bridge, Like Taylor Swift, Who Do I Have To Sleep With To Get On That Spotify Playlist?, Holograms On Tour and the aptly titled - Nobody Makes Money Anymore which is featured below:

The Pocket Gods are also releasing another 100x30 album at Xmas this time it will be entitled 100Xfile30 and will be all about the cult paranormal TV show The X Files. If there are any artists out there who wish to join the 30 second club and contribute tracks please contact: mark.lee@nubmusicuk.com
