Folk At The Fort is the new Music and Arts Festival launching at The Newhaven Fort on the 12th August. The historic battle Fort will set the scene for some of the best in new Folk music headlined by festival favourites and BBC2 Folk Award Winners and Nominees. This unique landmark will create a one of kind event that will become the must attend boutique Folk Music festival for the whole family.

Folk At The Fort will host Sam Kelly And The Lost Boys, Megson, Herbie Flowers And The All Stars, Dallahan, Danielle Lewis, Buffos Wake, Ellie Ford and Mardhys as well as live artists, locally brewed Ales from Long Man Brewery, an underground Spa with Massage Therapy and Sound Baths as well as lots children’s activities at the Newhaven Fort, 12th August.

Folk At The Fort, will play host to East Sussex’ brand new and exciting annual Folk Music Festival in one of the most unique settings. The Victorian Fort will be bought to life with the traditional and experimental sounds of Folk Musicians, Artists creating brand new pieces and the ancient culture of tibetan sound bowls and massage therapists amongst other relaxing treats in the underground spa. Festival goers will be able to experience this whilst wandering amongst the WW2 Cannons, hidden tunnels and the impenetrable Fort Wall.

Folk At The Fort combines the traditional Folk Sounds from Bands like Megson and Dallahan with New Music from the likes Ellie Ford, Mardhys and Buffos Wake. As we are keen to showcase the best in new music we have partnered with ACM (The Academy Of Contemporary Music) who have put on incredible acts who studied at the Guildford based Academy.

Headlining this exciting blend of traditional and new music are BBC2 Folk Award Winners Sam Kelly And the Lost Boys. Sam Kelly famously was on Britain’s Got Talent but is now touring the UK and writing a brand new album for 2018. Chosen by Cambridge Folk Festival as the pick of the 2016 event, they have quickly become one of the most in-demand bands on the UK festival scene.

Folk At The Fort is the second in a series of festivals raising the profile for the Newhaven Fort. The venture into creating new and exciting events within the historical landmark will bring a brand new audience to enjoy The Fort in new and exciting ways. We are positive that in years to come these festivals will make The Newhaven Fort a must see place for both it’s events and historical value.

Folk At The Fort will be filled with up to 900 Folk music fans and families from all around East Sussex, most of which will have never heard of The Newhaven Fort before. With it’s tight confines we have the opportunity to create some of the best boutique music festivals in the South East, making these the must attend festivals in years to come.
