“Stomping pop splendour, with buzz already emanating around the capital about this talented three-piece” CLASH

Dirty-Pop three-piece CRITICS are back with a new single ‘Key Lime Pie, set for release through their own label on 6th July.

Fresh from the success of their recently released debut single ‘All I Wanna Know’ - which saw support across the board from the likes of Clash magazine praising their “off kilter melodies and crashing rhythms galore” Rock Sound, who featured the band on their ‘One The Radar’ pages, defining their sound as “synth driven alt-pop”.

The new track has all the components of a pop gem, from funky grooving bass lines to intertwined lead guitars layers and heavily sampled drum loops. Produced by Natt Webb of RatCat studio, the song paints a opposite take on the inner-workings of a relationship; singer Lynn Paighton’s lyrics focus on the pros and cons of infatuation and how becoming close to someone can be both a blessing and a curse, whilst Jack Lawson’s layered guitars and Jamie Lowes alt-pop synths, complete a different sound palette compared to the darker tones of their debut.

The sleek video accompanying the single features a beach party scene which perfectly embodies the track’s joyful feeling. Directed by Matthew Daley - also responsible for the compelling visuals of the band’s debut ‘All I Wanna Know’- it has all the desirable elements of the ultimate summer anthem.

On the flip side ‘Perfect Weather’, is an electro-pop ballad with carefree synths and pitched vocals, it would make the perfect soundtrack of a heazy summer afternoon in a teen movie, but for now we can only dream to be in California and be in love for four minutes.

Having spent the past year closed in their recording studio shaping their sound, CRITICS went on to sign to In De Goot management - responsible for Biffy Clyro’s success in the US - before honing their craft on the road, supporting Vukovi and Say We Can Fly in their latest UK tours. Wowing crowds with their energetic set, the band has become a formidable live band.

‘Key Lime Pie’s’ euphoric chorus makes this CRITICS’ most enticing offering yet, with live credentials ncluding support slots with Vukovi, Say We Can Fly and a performance at this year’s Great Escape Festival – the new single is set to cement their status as one of the most exciting new bands coming out from the UK.
