Capital’s Summertime Ball with Vodafone is back! On Saturday June 10th some of the world’s biggest stars will perform at the iconic Wembley stadium for 80,000 Capital listeners. This morning on the all new Capital Breakfast Show, Roman Kemp revealed the first huge names confirmed for the UK’s biggest summer party.
Following a weekend of speculation after he called into Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp on Friday to tease some big news, Shawn Mendes was the first artist confirmed for Capital’s Summertime Ball this morning. With hits including ‘Treat You Better’ and the massive chart-topper ‘Stitches’, Shawn Mendes is one of today’s hottest male solo artists. He’s sure to send fans into a frenzy as he makes his debut at Capital’s Summertime Ball with Vodafone.
Shawn Mendes told Roman: “I’ve never even seen that many people in front of me so I’m very excited… I’m going to see if I can get the crowd to sing - I’ve never actually had the opportunity to make 80,000 people sing along to a song so I’m hoping I can do that.”
Next, Roman Kemp announced that Zara Larsson will return to Capital's Summertime Ball. The star has achieved international acclaim with hit tracks ‘I Would Like’ and ‘Ain’t My Fault’ dominating the charts, and collaborated with Clean Bandit on ‘Symphony’, topping the Vodafone Big Top 40. She’s sure to bring the summer party vibes to Wembley when she takes to the stage.
One of the most talked about artists of 2017, Stormzy, will be making his debut at Capital’s Summertime Ball with Vodafone. The grime star is having a huge year with his debut studio album ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’ entering the UK album chart at number one. Hot on the heels of ‘Big For Your Boots’ and his ‘Shape of You’ collaboration with Ed Sheeran, Stormzy is sure to wow Capital listeners in what will be a hotly anticipated performance.
Roman Kemp went on to reveal that Clean Bandit will also perform at the ball. The Grammy Award-winning trio are responsible for some of the biggest hits of the past three years. Their monster track ‘Rockabye’ featuring Sean Paul and Anne-Marie held the number one spot on the Vodafone Big Top 40 for a staggering seven weeks, and their current hit ‘Symphony’ has already spent three weeks at the top of the chart this year.
Charlie Puth also joins the all-star line-up to perform at Capital’s Summertime Ball for the first time. With hits including the multi-platinum ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ featuring Selena Gomez as well as current chart smash ‘Attention’, he’s sure to blow away Capital listeners when he makes his Wembley debut.
Next up Roman announced that Jax Jones and Raye, the duo behind the dance anthem of 2017 ‘You Don’t Know Me’, will be joining the stellar line-up at this year’s Capital’s Summertime Ball with Vodafone. Raye put on an electrifying performance at Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball last year with Jonas Blue, who she collaborated with on top ten hit ‘By Your Side’. On Saturday 10th June, the 19-year-old singer-songwriter will be joined on stage by DJ and producer Jax Jones to perform their Vodafone Big Top 40 top five smash hit for Capital listeners at the UK’s biggest summer party.
To complete the huge Monday morning reveal, Roman Kemp announced that one of the world’s biggest bands, Maroon 5, will also join the line-up for Capital’s Summertime Ball with Vodafone. The three-time Grammy award winners have sold more than 17 million albums worldwide, and are flying in to perform their massive hits for Capital listeners, who can expect a showstopping set.
