The Toronto songwriter follows fellow Canadian Just Bieber into this year’s edition of global achievements.

The renowned record-breaking reference book, which releases its 2017 edition on September 8th announced today that the ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ artist will feature in their hallowed pages after setting two chart-based records over the past 21 months.

The Weeknd’s 2015 album Beauty Behind The Madness currently holds the record for the most streamed album on Spotify in one year, after it was listened to by 60 million unique users between December 1st 2014 and December 1st 2015. The Weeknd, AKA Abel Tesfaye, also set the word record for the most consecutive weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 by a male solo artist. Singles including ‘Earned It’, ‘Can’t Feel My Face’, and ‘The Hills’ ensured that the Canadian remained in the top 10 of US singles chart for 45 consecutive weeks.

Tesfaye joins Justin Bieber in featuring in the book, after the pop singer was revealed to be the holder of eight world records including the record for being the first to occupy all three chart positions simultaneously on the UK singles chart.
