Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz can't help being "bummed out" by how pessimistic the world is.
The Chicago rockers are to release a venture titled Bloom, which frontman Pete hinted at earlier this month (Aug16) through one of his Snapchats. Telling fans they are the ones who inspired the project, which features a short film, Pete echoed this message during a chat with DIY magazine, in which he spoke about the group's message of hope.
"I think that I look out at the world sometimes, especially having kids, and all I see is negativity and hate that’s so divisive," he sighed. "It bums me out and I know that people have a hard time - I’ve had a hard time - and one of the things you should know if that you can make it out of the other side and be stronger because of that. That’s why I think it’s important."
Fall Out Boy performed on the Reading Main Stage as part of the U.K.'s Reading & Leeds Festival on Sunday (28Aug16), and previewed some of their new material before their set.
Bloom follows Fall Out Boy's 2015 album American Beauty / American Psycho, though Pete insists the new endeavour is a lot more "experimental".
“Something we’ve never done before, and maybe something people have never seen before, that they can take part it in and have a moment like, ‘I was at Reading 2016 and I was involved in it’," he explained.
As for the group - also including Patrick Stump, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley - securing a spot at the top venue at the annual event, Pete admits they were completely surprised when they were offered the gig as they had no plans to perform during the summer. Fall Out Boy played before Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro took to the stage to close the festival.
