Paloma Faith has announced she is expecting her first baby.

The New York singer is to become a first-time mother with her French artist boyfriend Leyman Lahcine. She shared the happy news on her Twitter account, posting a photo of a handwritten note in which she also revealed her fourth album will be titled The Architect, which is inspired by her beau.

“I am so delighted to tell you I am going to take a short while off to have a baby,” she scrawled. “I spent my whole life wanting to be a mother and now the time has come for me to do so. I feel so lucky.”

The star adds that she’s grateful to her loyal fans who are waiting for her new material, but asked that they respect her privacy during this time “which should be calm and without anxiety”.

Paloma, 35, also admitted that she’s nervous about becoming a mum, and she’s desperate for her unborn child to lead a normal life.

“Pregnancy and motherhood is a very personal thing, daunting, new and worrying at times and I don’t want to have to add to it by worrying about having to ‘look’ a certain way when pregnant,” she continued, promising to return to the spotlight “full of energy”.

Paloma, who is thought to have started dating Leyman at the beginning of 2014, has made her desire to have kids well known, previously noting she’s wanted to start a family since she was 27.

The singer was previously married to Rian Haynes.
