Miranda Lambert is "nervous as hell" about releasing new music after a break from the spotlight.

The country singer recently unveiled her new single Vice, a track detailing the breakdown of her marriage to Blake Shelton, whom she divorced in July 2015. It’s the first song to be unveiled from her upcoming, currently untitled album, and marks the first material she’s released since 2014 record Platinum, so Miranda feels a lot of pressure riding on her work.

“I’m nervous as hell,” she told Billboard. “I’ve been hunkered down for a year writing, recording, trying to live a normal life and getting ready for a new album. No one’s heard from me. I’ve been pretty silent all this time. And now that I’m coming with a song, it does make me nervous, and I hope that people are respectful of it and understand what I’ve been doing.”

She insists she’s never hidden away or tried to be mysterious during the tough times in her personal life and all her emotions have been captured through her lyrics. Her songwriting methods haven’t changed over the years either, and Miranda is still just as open and honest now as she was back when she dropped her debut album, Kerosene, in 2005.

What has slightly changed though is her ability to embrace her vulnerability.

“The sassy confidence, yes, that’s what I’ve kind of built my career on. But it also takes a lot of confidence and strength to be willing to be vulnerable,” she explained. “And I feel like when you listen to this song, there’s really nothing to read into. It says what it says.”

Miranda continued to note that every track she pens reflects the state of mind she is in. However, as everyone already knew details of her split from Blake via press attention, she had to find a new way to document her life.

“So I just said, I’m gonna journal it, and - good days and bad days - use it for my art,” she concluded.
