Music icon Barbra Streisand insists the audiences in Europe will always be way more impressed with her skills than her hometown in New York.

The Funny Girl legend is gearing up for a tour in support of her upcoming album Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway, and after performing on stages all over the world, Barbra revealed that the crowd in her native Brooklyn will always look at her as a neighbourhood girl, and not the international star fans view her as overseas.

"I mean, where are my best audiences? Germany." she tells Entertainment Tonight. "I'm from Brooklyn, so I'm one of them in a sense. But it's like, 'Hey, yeah, show us what you can do, girl!' It's that kind of thing. But in Europe, they're like, 'Ah, she came from Brooklyn.' and I'm an oddball. You're sitting in Brooklyn and they're like, 'You know, she's from the streets.'"

And Barbra will be back in Brooklyn for two shows on her new Barbra: The Music, The Mem'ries, The Magic Tour, a trek the singer says she's greatly looking forward to, despite her well known stage fright.

"One of the reasons I'm doing the tour is because I love to share some of the music I just recorded," Barbra explains. "Meaning... if I have no new material, I'm thinking, 'What am I doing here?' You know? But it's fun to have new songs to sing."

And Barbra's fans are equally as excited to hear the new record, which features fellow entertainers taking on musical theatre favourites. Among the stars duetting with the star are Daisy Ridley, Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Jamie Foxx and Melissa McCarthy.

Her tour kicks off 2 August (16) in Los Angeles with multiple dates throughout North America, and wraps up just before the album is released on 26 August (16).
