The Shires topped off an incredible 18 months, which has included a top ten album, prestigious concerts both as support and headlining, including the 2016 Glastonbury acoustic stage, with a thank you to their fans by playing a show at London’s 100 Embankment venue on 14 July. The duo have taken UK country music forward, opening doors for British bands, pushing the music up playlists and earning themselves a gold album along the way.

The concert was limited just to a few hundred lucky fans in a relatively small venue but it was full on band performance and demonstrated just how far they have come since the release of their debut Brave.

Over 45 minutes or so they looked tight and lean, and very assured. An enthusiastic and passionate audience lapped up those now very familiar songs Nashville Grey Skies and Friday Night from their debut. But tellingly the songs previewed from the new album were just as well received and which bodes well for it. After the set The Shires posed for photos with every fan that wanted one, and as you can imagine it wasn’t an early evening.

The new album My Universe is due out on 7 October, and will followed by a lengthy tour in November.
