Day three at Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park has been spectacular! Headlining the Sunday lineup was the legendary Carole King, who took to the stage for her first London performance in over three decades to present her masterpiece album 'Tapestry', which has never before been performed live. During the Gilmore Girls theme tune 'Where You Lead', she invited her daughter Louise Goffin into the spotlight. Later, she asked the band to leave the stage as she 'needed a moment' with the 65000 capacity crowd, to sing a medley of her Greatest Hits.
Troubadour Carole was on top form, sitting down at her grand piano at the end of 'Smackwater Jack' and laughing, 'So this is what 74 looks like!'. For her famous hit 'Natural Woman', Carole sang alongside a video of her younger self from 1971, a poignant and powerful duet. Although spotted in the audience at the beginning of the set, towards the end of the performance Carole brought out the full cast of West End musical 'Beautiful'. Cassidy Janson, leading lady of the show, duetted with Carole during 'Earth Move' to rapturous applause.
Warming up crowds on the Great Oak Stage before Carole was Eagles legend and rock giant Don Henley. He treated fans to his classic solo hit 'Boys of Summer' and several foot-stomping tracks written with The Eagles including 'Life In The Fast Lane' and 'Hotel California'.
Before appearing on stage with her mother for the final act, Louise Goffin also graced the Great Oak Stage earlier in the day - making the Sunday truly a family affair. Michael Kiwanuka also provided the Great Oak Stage with his soulful vocals and funky guitar.
Female artists inspired by Carole King headed up other stages, including Clare Maguire, Billie Marten and BST veteran Rae Morris who all brightened the summer afternoon. On Casa Bacardi, Hackney Colliery Band blew up a storm with their brassy covers of Nirvana and other popular tracks.
In the hot weather, the craft ale stall and ice cream vans were in high demand and Notting Hill Carnival were also out in force with their beautiful costumes.
The Sunday lineup attracted stars in their droves, including Alan Carr, Steve Coogan, Niall Horan, Suki Waterhouse, Georgia-May and Lizzie Jagger, Dominic Cooper, Foxes, Michael Ball, David Morrissey, Kelly Jones, Mel C and Will Young.
