Singer Carrie Underwood has a big family vacation on her mind after spending much of 2016 touring for work.

The country star's Storyteller trek has been such a huge hit in the U.S. she has added dates for later this year (16), and she's also planning tour stops in Australia and a debut show in New Zealand with Keith Urban in December (16) - and she's also trying to find time for a romantic get away with her husband Mike Fisher.

"I think we're going to try and take a vacation this year," she tells news show Extra. "It's been a couple of years since we've gone anywhere, so we deserve that. We just like to relax. Give us a beach somewhere, a lake, we're good, we're easy to please."

And Carrie is also planning a major family vacation with the couple's one-year-old son Isaiah.

"I have some future plans for an RV (trip) for sure...," she adds. "We will be taking some summer drives."

But life is one big touring holiday for little Isaiah, who enjoys splashing around in all the pools at the hotels his mum stays at in between concerts.

She explains, "I'm always looking up baby-friendly things to do in wherever we are... he (Isaiah) loves being outside.

"I want him to have childhood normalcy... We take him down to the pools, and the hotels and let him splash around because a kid would do that."

Meanwhile, she credits her son for her new look, insisting balancing life as a mum and an entertainer made her rethink her hairdo: "Life is easier," she laughs. "I love long hair, but I would be blowing my hair and Isaiah would be tugging on my pants like, 'Pick me up', and I would hold him and blow my hair dry, and I'm like, 'This is just ridiculous. What can I do in my life to just kind of streamline things and make things easier?'"
