Travis Barker finally feels blessed with his life.

The Blink-182 drummer has been put through the paces over the years, from battling drug and alcohol addictions to surviving a near fatal plane crash. But at the age of 40, the tattooed rocker admits he’s never felt better.

“I'm feeling younger and better now than I did when I was 20,” he grinned to People magazine.

"I was probably one of the most unhealthy human beings, from what I ate to what I put in my body. There have been so many hardships in my life. Now I know how to handle them... I just feel so blessed."

Travis and bandmates Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus hit the big time in the ‘90s, scoring top 10 albums and playing to crowds the world over. Travis fully embraced the rock and roll lifestyle, calling his past “wild”, and even after welcoming children Landon and Alabama he carried on partying hard.

A tragic plane accident in 2008 forced him to re-evaluate things though, and despite being only one of two survivors when the private plane he was on crashed, Travis was left with 65 per cent burns covering his body.

"I knew I had to bounce back. I'm a father – I had two human beings who were looking to me for guidance," he recalled. "I was sober from that point on.

“I never wanted to leave home again in my life. I wanted to be with my kids."

A year after the crash, Travis’ fellow survivor Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein, died after a drugs overdose.

"If I didn't already know how precious life was, I was definitely smacked in the face and reminded," Travis shared.
