Singer Jason Derulo's new man bun has been such a hit with the ladies, he's planning to keep it.
The Talk Dirty performer usually sports a closely cropped style, but in recent months he's been growing his hair out, and surprised fans when he debuted his man bun at the C.F.D.A. Awards on Monday (06Jun16).
His new braided top knot quickly started trending on social media, and during a chat with Vanity Fair at the amfAR Inspiration Gala in New York on Thursday (09Jun16), the 26-year-old explained how his look came about.
"I’ve been going wild with my hair for the past couple of months and I wanted to clean it up for a second,” he said. “I tried some braids, and then I was like, Damn! My hair is really long. I didn’t expect it to be that long when I braided it so I was like, What the f**k am I going to do? So I decided to put it in a bun.
"I really like it. I think it looks cool,” he added. “The girls are kind of into it. I didn’t expect that, but maybe I should keep it for them.”
The newly single star - who split from girlfriend Daphne Joy last month (May16) - doesn't care if some of his supporters hate his man bun though, as he's just having fun switching up his look for a while.
"I have nothing but much love,” he said of his critics. “It doesn’t really matter to me. I’m going to do what I want to do at the end of the day. I’m not putting my hair in a bun for a particular person. I put it in for myself. But I’m glad some people dig it, though.”
