Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid reportedly think a long distance relationship may be the key to making a marriage work.

The two stars called off their engagement at the end of 2015, allegedly because they couldn’t decide on where to live. Snow Patrol rocker Johnny, 39, hails from Northern Ireland, but lives in England, while 51-year-old actress Courteney is based in L.A.

In recent weeks the pair has reconciled, though living arrangements may still be a problem for the couple.

“One of the main reasons that they split originally was because they couldn’t agree on where to settle,” an insider told Britain’s Grazia magazine. “Johnny desperately wants to move back to London where he has a studio, but Courteney doesn’t want to uproot her daughter, Coco, and says it would be too hard with the custody agreement she has with her ex, David Arquette.

“They’ve spoken about doing long distance but everyone has warned them it’s a bad idea, including her best friend Jennifer Aniston who almost split from her now husband Justin (Theroux) when he was living in New York and she was in L.A. They’re trying to work out a compromise because they both want to make it work.”

Courteney and Johnny were introduced by mutual friend, singer Ed Sheeran, and were engaged in June 2014.

Prior to their split the couple seemed happy, which made their separation all the more shocking.

Earlier this month (May16) Courteney was pictured with a ring back on, leading many to speculate that a wedding is back on the cards.

“It’s not her engagement ring, but they are definitely back together," the source commented. "They couldn’t bear to be away from each other, and the time apart has given them perspective. Friends are holding out hope that the wedding will still happen."
