Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers is on the mend after being hospitalized on Saturday the 14th for the flu.

According to the singer, he is “good, but not great”, telling ET Canada “I think I had to get sick to take a look at myself and get to the causes and conditions of my overall health. It was a painful and sad thing to have to cancel shows, we don’t really do that. I’d rather play deathly ill than not at all, but in this particular instance I was starting to go down to the ground.

“I surf most days and I like to charge, but every now and then, the body is like, ‘You’re doing something wrong, either fix it or we’re gonna let you know about it’.”

The band’s next scheduled show is next Sunday at BottleRock Napa Valley in Napa Valley, CA.

Meanwhile, Flea has told Mike McCready on Sirius/XM’s Pearl Jam Radio that “rock music [is] kind of a dead form in a lot of ways”

He went on to say that, when he was young and said that he wanted to be in a rock band, everyone would be “You are a fucking lunatic, you are crazy. You’re never going to get a descent job in your life.”

“But nowadays, you decide you want to be in a rock band it’s like, ‘Oh great, let’s get you an image consultant, and a lawyer, and a manager, and let’s see what we can do here. It’s a great money making opportunity for you junior.”
