Pop star Meghan Trainor has taken "full blame" for her Photoshopped Me Too video, admitting she did see an edit in post-production.
The 22-year-old pulled the video for her latest single just hours after releasing it on Monday (09May16), after realising her waist had been drastically slimmed down by behind-the-scenes technicians.
Meghan took to Snapchat to explain why it had been removed, revealing editors had "Photoshopped the c**p out of me", but less than 24 hours later, the star has admitted she actually saw a version of the footage in post-production but missed the glaring alteration.
"We didn't have a lot of time for this video and we had to wrap it around pretty quick," she told ET Online. "They had, like, a day to get beauty and colour done. I take full blame for not seeing it. I approved a version, but I remember we were so focused on the car scene for a lot of takes, because they had filters over it to make it look like a video recording.
"I said, 'No', and I was only really looking at that part, and to make sure the filter (was) off."
Meghan realised her oversight when fans spotted her trimmed-down frame.
"I guess I didn't pay enough attention...," she said. "When I saw it out, the fans were posting pictures of it, and I said, 'Why are fans, like, Photoshopping my waist?' And then I said, 'Oh God, is that the video?' Then I freaked out and called everyone."
While Meghan has accepted her part in the mistake, she doesn't understand why it was missed by so many people before making it to air.
"We are all just banging our heads against the wall. How did we miss that?" she shared. "And I am more upset because I don't want this whole music video and song, my second single, to be all focused on the Photoshopping, you know?"
Meghan is also conscious of sending the right message to her fans when it comes to body image too.
"I don't want them to think that my waist is that tiny," she insisted. "They kept my butt the same size, so the proportions were just unrealistic... It was more intense than Nicki Minaj's amazing curves."
